The Ministry of Innovative Development announced a competition to effectively combat the coronavirus COVID-19 in the republic and prevent the penetration of the disease into the republic

On December 31, 2019, WHO reported an outbreak in Wuhan, China, of unknown pneumonia. Chinese experts have found that the causative agent of the disease is the coronavirus COVID-19. As of March 10, 2020, the disease was registered in 115 countries, 115825 people worldwide were infected with this disease, 4087 people died from coronavirus. It is necessary to create technologies for their treatment based on an in-depth analysis of the pathogenesis of coronavirus infections in the republic, as well as the creation of molecular genetic diagnostics to identify coronavirus strains.

Ensuring the prevention of the widespread spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Uzbekistan requires, first of all, increasing the level of medical care and preventive work in our country.

This competition is held in accordance with the requirements established by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 133 dated March 9, 2019 “On measures to further improve the system of the regulatory framework for the development of scientific, technical and innovative activities”.

Topics of applied projects implemented as part of the state order for scientific projects:

An applied project implemented over 2 years “Creating a technology for the control and treatment of coronavirus infections based on an in-depth analysis of pathogenesis” (total funding – 2.0 billion soums);

An applied project implemented over 1 year “Creating a molecular genetic diagnosis for the detection of COVID-19 coronavirus strains” (total funding – 1.5 billion soums).
